MP's are scared - for staying within the rules? [May. 10th, 2009|08:21 am]
Sarah
When a mole shows everyone your dirty laundry - no wonder they're scared:

The MP acted after his office raised a series of questions with the fees office about expense claims dating back to 2004. Within an hour of this conversation, the MP's staff were contacted by the Daily Telegraph which then asked questions covering exactly the same area. The MP told the Guardian: "It was uncanny. There is something horrible going on. I have never been so frightened. What is happening is disgusting."

~What gets me is that MPs are more bothered with stamping out the leaking of their troughing than addressing the point that their troughing is obscene and that ordinairy people are appalled at what MPs have been rewarding themselves with.

Just because their expenses are legal, doesn't make them right.

Ya know, if MP work expenses - heck, ALL public service/servant/official and government expenses - were all handled through a completely transparent, publically-accessible system, the would be no reason for the media to call up about it, would there?

After all, it _is_ our money, when it comes down to it.

And I speak as an ex-career public servant.
