It's coming... [Apr. 20th, 2009|06:43 am]
I'm busy setting up some basic breadboarding components for my new F2013 MCU chips.

... and I'm implementing a new Electronics blog on Untamed.co.uk detailing my hopes, fears, successes and failures. (not up yet)

I've got some programs running already.

The most important two so far I think are:

1: MCU clock speed changer, 1MHz, 2MHz, 4MHz, 8MHz, 16MHz
2: MCU Core-clock independent timed interrupt routines.

I found out fast that nearly all the demo's featured an interrupt trigger driven from the main CPU clock. As I want to use interrupts to measure 1 second, changing the clock speed changed the interval between seconds!
I finally found some code that an engineer posted * that links an alternative clock to the interrupt trigger. Now 1 second is 1 second - at least calibrated on one MCU.

Photographers are not evil! [Apr. 20th, 2009|10:00 pm]
Remember that not one terrorist attack ever involved taking photographs?

Maybe the Met just don't like people taking pictures of officers? Although I have no idea why! /s

How on earth can you explain this ad, apart from a method of making people feel more insecure, and come running to the government for help?

A very true "geek in the family" monologue [Apr. 20th, 2009|11:03 pm]
"You can fix computers? I have this problem with mine. I am also going to have a problem with it in a month from my own stupidity, however I will blame it on you, it must have been something /you/ did while fixing it before. My 6 year old nephew is a computer guru who knows how to use IE and facebook, and he can't find the problem and blames it on YOU. Please fix my computer with not only free labor, but free parts in the case that a part needs to be replaced."
